Shire of Yarra Ranges - Rural Living Zones Review

Shire of Yarra Ranges has undertaken a review of the existing Rural Living Zone (RLZ) areas in townships along the Warburton Highway corridor, and at its Council meeting on 14th June 2016 has supported a recommendation to ask the Planning Minister to rezone these areas into a variety of new zonings.

Should the Planning Minister support Council's request, their will be opportunity for community consultation in regards to Council's proposal.

Council's current proposed planning amendment recommendation is available to view in the Agenda/Minutes section of Council's website under Item 7.3 of the 14th June Council Meeting.

Whilst the current recommendation will enable various new uses to be considered in the proposed new zonings and reduce many likely triggers for planning permit requirement, the current proposal does not contain any new opportunities for subdivision. The proposal is still subject to Community Consultation, so I would recommend any property owners in this area to carefully review the proposed changes once they are formally notified by Council.

Please do not hesitate to contact my office should you require any assistance or further discussion in regards to the Rural Living Zone planning amendment process.
