The Thomas & George team are ready to assist the bushfire affected communities and property owners in the rebuilding of their community, in the Yea, Alexandra, Yarck & Longwood area.
The early involvement of Licensed Surveyors (commonly known as Land Surveyors) in any rebuilding project can be critical to an efficient process, ensuring critical local survey control is not further damaged or lost during the bushfire recovery cleanup works.
Thomas & George P/L can assist with these early survey recovery works, or other Surveyors via the Surveyor General's Office list of Surveyors may also be available to assist in the provision of surveying consultancy services. The surveying industry provided a critical role in the recovery of affected communities following the Black Saturday 2009 bushfires.
SGV - Surveying Support for Bushfire affected communities
The SGV link above includes access to a factsheet compiled by the SGV office, titled "Bushfires Land Surveying Factsheet 2026" which has been prepared by SGV to assist affected land owners to understand their potential land surveying needs and considerations during the recovery and rebuilding process.
There are special Town Planning considerations and exemptions that potentially apply for any redevelopment/rebuilding of bushfire affected land, contained within Clauses 52.07 (Emergency Recovery) and Clause 52.10 (Reconstruction after an Emergency) of the Murrindindi Planning Scheme and all other Victorian Planning Schemes. Early involvement of a specialist town planning consultant or discussion with Council's Planning Department, may assist your understanding of this special criteria, and how they relate to your site and your proposed rebuilding works.
Clause 52.07 (Emergency recovery)
Clause 52.10 (Reconstruction after an Emergency)
Please contact our Lilydale office or the Surveyor General's of Victoria's office should you require some preliminary consultancy or advice for your rebuilding project and its land surveying needs. Early protection and location of key critical survey marks and remnant fencing, can be critical to future title re-establishment of boundaries within these bushfire affected areas.
